:: yogi :: writer :: HEALTH BADASS :: HAPPINESS AMBASSADOR ::
Giuliana Hazelwood is a yoga teacher, writer, and happiness ambassador living in New York City, the concrete jungle where dreams are made.
A now-reformed dancer and track athlete, Giuliana began studying yoga at the age of twelve. Various shenanigans and injuries throughout her teenage years informed her practice of yoga as a means for recovery and healing. Since then, yoga has become a means of discovering herself, her dharma, and the inherent loveliness of all creatures great and small.
A graduate of the Open Hearts Yoga School 200-Hour Foundational Training, her instruction is primarily influenced by Vinyasa Flow, Kundalini, Shadow, Anusara, and Forrest Yoga. Giuliana (a total anatomy nerd) also incorporates elements of ballet, modern dance, and embodied movement in her teaching.
A period of severe illness in her early twenties led Giuliana to study Ayurvedic philosophy and medicine. She is currently pursuing her 200-hour Foundations of Ayurveda certification at the Kripalu School of Ayurveda. Along with Kundalini Yoga, this system of self-care has helped her navigate the sometimes tricky dilemma of being a yogi while living in the modern urban world.
Giuliana is also the creator of Lovely Healthy, a health and wellness blog and video channel dedicated to helping people better their lives by taking care of their bodies and cultivating a positive attitude. Additionally, she is a contributing writer for Greatist.
Giuliana's variety of classes all abide by the same core principles:
:: The SWEET G MANIFESTO ::
Yoga is for everybody.
There is no such thing as being bad at yoga.
There is no yoga police. Rules were meant to be broken.
A successful yoga practice is embodied and sustainable.
Be your own guru.
Inside of all of us is a wild thing.
Life is a daring adventure or nothing at all.
The mind is everything. What you think, you become.
Do the thing you think you cannot do.
You are a warrior of light.
You have the capacity to heal the planet with your body.
You are infinite, perfect, and complete.
You are not broken, you do not need to be fixed.
No where is it written for you to fail.
Love life and it loves you back.
The world is a kinder place when you are kind.
You get what you can handle.
Trust that you are being led.
Recognize that the other person is you.
Check yo'self before you wreck yo'self.
Honor your teachers.
No yogi left behind. You are all beautiful creatures, each and every one.
Light reflects light.
Love reflects love.
satnam, beautiful people.
// I honor the place in you in which the entire Universe dwells // I honor the place in you which is of Love, of Truth, of Light and of Peace // When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me, we are One //
